Join Peninsula Ramblers

Interested? Scroll down to find out more about joining the Ramblers. New to hiking? Click here for some guidelines on what to wear and pack, and explanations of some hiking terms you may find in the programme.

Benefits of becoming a member:

Members receive the hiking programme and newsletter three times a year and, for those who have access to the Internet, any additional news by email between programs.  Members may attend any Club hike or social and our annual year-end function.  Most of the hikes and socials are free of charge, but we do also do permit hikes from time to time and some of the socials may have a cost implication.

How to join the Ramblers:

Once you’ve completed two hikes as a visitor, you can apply to join either by filling out the easy online application form (see below) and press the Submit Application button, or obtain an application form from a hike leader to fill in and email to the Club secretary. You’ll need one Club hike leader you have hiked with to propose and one to second your application (just record their names in the relevant space on the form). Please attach a photo to the form (it helps the Committee identify prospective members) and proof of payment of the applicable annual membership and entrance fee – see below – with the form.  In the unlikely event of your application being turned down, these will be refunded to you.

Membership is open to persons aged 18 years and over.  Children over 12, accompanied by a responsible adult, are considered as family members and may take part in any half-day hikes, unless otherwise specified, and as long as the leader is in agreement.

Membership fees:

  • Entrance fee: Free but please note there are 2 compulsory hikes as visitors before they may apply for membership
  • Annual membership (single): R130.00
  • Annual membership (family): R160.00
  • Visitor fees – R50 per hike
  • New members only pay half the membership fee if they join between 1 October and 28 February.
  • Membership fees are due by 31 March annually.

Application Form

Only complete once you have hiked with the Club as a visitor.
